Position

This position is located in Aurora, IL and will report to the Vice President – Sales & Marketing.  This position will be responsible for developing and growing Spectrum’s business in the domestic Turf market through, 1) exceeding sales targets for existing Turf distributors, 2) identifying and develop new distributors, 3) developing the business with RainBird golf irrigation distributors, and 4) growing business with Golf Course Management companies. 

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Place outbound calls and make customer visits to current and prospective distributors in pursuit of business development
  • Track customer activities and follow up actions within the CRM system
  • Visit, build relationships, provide training and increase product breadth at key distributors in the US and Canada
  • Lead efforts with major Golf Irrigation distributors to introduce new products and grow business at each location
  • Network within large golf course management companies, develop relationships and identify opportunities for business growth
  • Support product launch efforts for new Turf related products, identify ways to speed product adoption
  • Understand and respond to trends, markets and products; voice industry needs and gaps internally
  • Develop market goals, annual business plans and monthly action plans
  • Conduct regular reviews of marketing activities and development programs that impact the Turf industry
  • Forecast, budget and track assigned revenue targets
  • Monitor the status of activities, action plans, sales and projects on a weekly basis
  • Database management of all activities related to the customers within the Turf market
  • Represent the company at select trade shows or association events

 

 

 Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, MS or MBA preferred.
  • Relevant Turf Industry experience and understanding of the market preferred
  • Minimum of three years successful, results driven sales experience
  • Demonstrated skills in achieving sales goals through distributors and customers
  • Thorough understanding of consultative sales cycle
  • Ability to understand complex or technical concepts and communicate them to customers
  • Ability to effectively implement sales and marketing strategies
  • Ability to effectively monitor industry performance versus plan and communicate accordingly
  • Ability to interface and demonstrate leadership both internally and externally
  • High-energy self-starter as well as collaborative team player
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate cross functionally within company and with customers
  • Demonstrated commitment to building strong business relationships with customer
  • Effective, strong presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • High level of accountability
  • Ability to effectively communicate with senior leaders internally and with customer
  • Candidate should possess strong analytical skills, critical thinking skills and problem solving skills
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software is required.
