INTELLIGENT IRRIGATION: WHAT IS YOUR ROOT ZONE TELLING YOU?
|
|
As Water is our most vital resource. Current drought conditions thru out the US and other countries are forcing further restrictions on irrigation practices. And as many know, proper irrigation techniques produce strong root zones. It is increasingly important to have accurate knowledge of current soil conditionswhether planting a crop or managing turf.
Spectrum has recently developed a new soil moisture audit. This new soil moisture audit enhances the tradition catch-can method by measuring the moisture that has actually penetrated the root zone.
The new soil moisture audit uses the FieldScout® TDR 300 soil moisture meter and the new SpecMaps web-based software. Combining both products with a handheld GPS devicecustomers are now able to instantly retrieve a 2-dimensional color map of soil moisture of their test site, via the internet.
The combined TDR 300 meter and SpecMaps System measures water delivery at the root zone, allows spot testing of potential problem areas, and does not require existing irrigation system to be running.
